Printcom and RoboticsCats: Bringing AI-Powered Wildfire Detection to Indonesia

Indonesia is no stranger to fire.

Every dry season, forests, peatlands, plantations and agricultural areas become increasingly vulnerable. Under drought conditions, a small ignition can quickly become a destructive wildfire—threatening communities, livelihoods, biodiversity and the atmosphere we all share.

But Indonesia’s wildfires are not only an Indonesian challenge.

Smoke and haze can travel across borders, affecting neighbouring countries such as Singapore, Malaysia and Brunei. When winds carry smoke from Sumatra and Kalimantan, communities across Southeast Asia may experience unhealthy air quality, disrupted travel, reduced outdoor activity and increased public-health concerns.

In 2026, the warning signs are already visible. Indonesia has recorded more than 5,000 wildfire hotspots, with activity rising faster than during several previous El Niño years. The risk could become even more serious if current climate conditions develop into a “Super El Niño,” which could reduce rainfall, intensify drought and increase the likelihood of fires spreading.

Recent reports have highlighted elevated hotspot activity and a growing risk of haze across the region.

This challenge requires preparation, cooperation and practical technology.

Printcom Solusi and RoboticsCats have been working together to help customers strengthen wildfire preparedness. Printcom is a leading surveillance solutions provider in Indonesia and an AXIS Communications partner, with experience in network cameras, security infrastructure and system integration.

RoboticsCats contributes LookOut Wildfire Detection, an AI-powered visual analytics solution that works with compatible AXIS network cameras. Using machine vision, LookOut identifies early signs of smoke and fire, helping organizations receive timely alerts and respond before an incident escalates.

Together, Printcom and RoboticsCats are ready to support Indonesian customers across forests, nature reserves, plantations, agricultural estates, communities, renewable-energy facilities and other critical infrastructure.

Earlier detection can help protect people, reduce damage to agriculture and infrastructure, limit transboundary haze and safeguard Indonesia’s extraordinary biodiversity.

The next wildfire may begin with a single spark. Our goal is to help ensure that it does not go unseen.
