AmI & AI Meet Nature – Gravio and RoboticsCats Join Forces to Combat Climate Threats

“One area of focus was the increasing use of technology. Artificial intelligence, sensors, satellites, and machine learning can better support businesses and communities in cutting emissions and nature restoration and conservation efforts while dealing with extreme weather events and building resiliency.” – World Economic Forum.

Gravio and RoboticsCats are collaborating to develop AmI and AI-powered IoT solutions to increase climate resilience and conserve biodiversity.

The joint solutions collect visual and ambient information – temperature, humidity, soil moisture, wind speed, environmental sound, etc. – and apply Ambient Intelligence (AmI) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to detect destructive weather events and unwanted activities, enabling timely action to mitigate their impacts.

One new solution is Ambient Intelligence and AI Wildfire Detection (AI2). RoboticsCats’ LookOut Wildfire Detection SaaS detects wildfire ignitions from surveillance camera images and sends detection alerts to Gravio Hubkit. Gravio Hubkit aggregates environmental data from outdoor sensors to improve situational risk tolerance levels, eliminating false positives and increasing the accuracy of AI predictive results. AI2 improves wildfire detection performance and enhances wildfire control effectiveness and efficiency.

Imagine seeing one of the 284 birds that collided with windows in Hong Kong*. You watch as it falls, wishing there was something you could do. It makes you wonder, could there be a smarter way to prevent this?

Another emerging solution is AI Bird Detection and Acoustic Bird Deterrence (ABD ABD). Gravio Hubkit integrates surveillance cameras and RoboticsCats’ AI Bird Detection to identify incoming birds from visual data, microphones and AI to detect nearby birds, and speakers to broadcast sounds to attract birds away from dangerous areas such as high-voltage transmission lines and wind power turbines. ABD ABD reduces bird collisions and protects wildlife and biodiversity.

Nicholas Lim, Head of AI and IoT Global at Asteria Corporation (TYO: 3853) stated, “Gravio is a platform to connect inputs and outputs to enhance efficiency within companies. Gravio leverages both Edge and Cloud computing. AI2 and ABD2 are great showcases of on-premise data from weather sensors and surveillance cameras combined with cloud-based AI analytics to prevent destructive wildfires and protect endangered wildlife.”

Andre Cheung, Founder & CEO of RoboticsCats, explained, “Gravio is very easy to use without coding experience. The Gravio platform accelerates RoboticsCats’ innovation lifecycle. It took the teams just one month to move AI2 from the Ideation to the Test stage! The Gravio partnership will empower RoboticsCats to allocate more resources to the Emphasize and Define stages and improve our problem-solving capability!” He added, “Climate change brings more rainstorms and flooding to Asia. We and the Gravio teams are exploring solutions to reduce the impacts of these extreme weather events. There are many innovations in our pipeline. Stay tuned!”
