RoboticsCats joins CITRIS to Innovate Workforce of future

It is an honor for us to participate in the CITRIS Workforce Innovation Program. Three brilliant University of California (UC) undergrads will be joining RoboticsCats as interns this summer. They will apply their knowledge in environmental sciences and engineering in a climatetech startup environment. They will add diversity, new perspectives, and new skills to the team.

Our diversity is our strength.

The goals of the CITRIS Workforce Innovation are to help UC students pursue world-changing research and accelerate their careers. The program offers select UC students the opportunity to inform their career decisions through eight-week internships, where they’ll build in-demand skills through on-the-job experience.

CITRIS Workforce Innovation provides select undergrads from all majors at UC Berkeley, UC Davis, UC Merced and UC Santa Cruz the opportunities to work in one of five areas of emerging IT innovation important to the state of California: aviation, climate resilience, digital health, robotics and semiconductors.

RoboticsCats is one of the host organizations participating in the CITRIS Workforce Innovation Program.  We’re excited to take part in the internship program. It helps prepare us to establish our presence in California. It increases our engagement with academia. It strengthens our participation in the US market.

The coming fire season is challenging. With the additional workforce resources, we will accelerate our research and development and launch new products faster to help more people. We will work together with the interns to build innovative products to meet the needs of the state. We will collaborate with the undergrads to engage and support frontline communities in California to tackle the wildfire problems. These are our common goals.

We focus the internship activities on three areas:

1.R&D: to develop new capabilities for our LookOut wildfire detection software-as-a-service

2.Deploy pilots: to deploy more wildfire detection pilot projects in California to help mitigate wildfire risks

3.Connect to entrepreneurs in Asia: to meet and learn from innovators on the other side of the Pacific Ocean

Climate resilience is a global issue. We prioritize the internship program to add diverse experiences to their talent development. Some activities are new to us. We will team up with CITRIS, the interns, our partners, and customers to make these things happen.

There are differences between the interns and the core team: time zone differences, cultural differences, and generational differences. All these dissimilarities will move us out of our comfort zones and challenge the status quos. We will work together in new ways to create new goods for all stakeholders.

Our difference is our strength.

Wish them every success in their exams. We are looking forward to working together this summer!
