ClimateTech Founders Summit

Thanks to Maiko’s invitation, it was my pleasure to take part in the ClimateTech Founders Summit. It is a fruitful journey and I recommend my partners and customers to participate in future events.

“Join some of the best ClimateTech founders and changemakers from across Europe and North America and form new friendships, partnerships and define the future of ClimateTech. 100% virtual.”

The summit was hosted by Impact Hustlers in London, in partnership with 1014 in New York and ChangeNow in Paris. The event was targeting climatetech founders & ecosystem leaders with the goal to connect the ecosystems across the Atlantic Ocean. Impact Hustlers is a community for social entrepreneurs and investors to share ideas and work together. Maiko Schaffrath is the founder of Impact Hustlers. He discusses with changemakers on the world’s most pressing issues in the Impact Hustlers podcast.

The summit was a two-day virtual event on 26th and 27th October, starting from 9 am and ending by 3 pm EST (2 pm to 8 pm BST).  Hopin was the event platform. Four sessions per day – Opening Remarks, Keynote, Panel, and Co-creation Session – with networking times between them. There was a Clubhouse sharing at end of each day, hosted by the Climate Tech Club.

Figure 2: (Left to right) Santiago Levebvre of ChangeNow, Maiko Schaffrath of Impact Hustlers, Chris Coleridge of Carbon13, and Avra van der Zee of Elemental Excelerator shared their thoughts on “ClimateTech Unleashed: How do we unlock entrepreneurial potential?” in the Day-1 Panel session.

I joined Helene Saurais, co-founder of inoqo, in the Day-1 Co-creation session to share the challenges of our startups and receive advice from other founders attending the event. inoqo provides consumers with scientific-based data on the environmental, social and biodiversity impact of grocery products and hence helps consumers to make purchasing decisions aligning with their sustainability concerns. One of inoqo’s challenges is to develop more corporate partnerships to drive user adoption in the partner organizations.

“How to meet potential partners who are interested to provide climatetech solutions?” was the challenge I shared in the Co-creation session. As a young startup, most of our resources are spent on R&D. We are limited in sales and marketing capacity. That said, our AI wildfire detection products can help customers around the world mitigate wildfire risks and damages. We adopt a channel sales strategy and we work with partners to provide our solutions to customers in 10 countries spread across both Pacific and Atlantic rims. We want to team up with more partners to reach and serve more customers faster. We are competing with time to combat climate change.

Figure 3: (Left to right) Maiko Schaffrath of Impact Hustlers, Helene Saurais of inoqo, Andre Cheung of Robotics Cats, and Peter Simeonove of Smart Migrator discussed about climatetech startup’s challenges in the Day-1 Co-creation session.

There were many good suggestions to Helene and me. We continued the discussion in the Clubhouse session. The participants were very keen to help us. Very appreciated!

Overall the two-day summit was very interactive. With diverse participant demographics, the event was full of creative ideas, unconventional viewpoints, and interesting discussions. There was one thing in common in all conversations – the sense of urgency. We are competing with time to heal the world.

“If you care enough for the living, make a better place for you and for me~”

The networking times were invaluable! I met founders and entrepreneurs around the globe! It was very productive for me to connect to the teams from Elemental Excelerator, Carbon13, ChangeNOW, PlanetFWD, Sadu, Impact Innovation Japan, Save Our Planet Refillery, Seedstars, Gener8tor, Satgana, and more! There are many follow-up meetings since the summit.

How to meet potential partners who are interested to provide climatetech solutions?

Join ClimateTech Founders Summit.

Looking forward to the next event!
